Who moved the rain?

Something in the Pacific has a connection to Singapore.

A simplified Pacific cross-section with two settings. In the neutral pattern, trade winds push warm surface water westward, supporting rainfall over the warmer western Pacific. In the El Niño pattern, weaker trade winds let warm water extend eastward, and the tropical rainfall pattern shifts with it.

El Niño often brings warmer, drier conditions to Singapore and the region; season and other weather patterns matter. Dry conditions can favour fires, but whether smoke reaches Singapore also depends on where fires burn and how winds and rain behave. This is not today’s forecast.
